Two Great Serials: Lie to Me versus Doctor House

During my academic year I am usually merged into several activities, such as writing term paper helper, countless academic essays, reading curricular books. As a result, I usually spend free time in the evenings watching various TV series and movies. Thereby I watched several of them including Lie to Me .

In fact, the series is some kind of an experiment. The authors tried to show a complicated idea: everyone lies but to deceive verbally is easier than nonverbally. It was practically the first attempt to demonstrate it on the screen. But still, they did not manage to create an obvious example. All cases are very perfunctory and even inexperienced watcher may understand it. Of course, each rule has its exception, but still, the evidences of truthfulness or falsity of Lightman’s suspects might be more detailed and trustworthy.

There is an opinion that Dr. Cal Lightman is similar to Dr. House from another TV series. House is the independent and unique character well thought-off. People quote his speech and tell each other episodes and scenes from the series. He is the natural genius when Lightman is only a scientist who does not have any particular talents. He earns money and reaches success thanks to the skills which he developed but he did not have them from the birth. For House his work is only the background, which adds some details to the characters development when Lightman is the character of the idea which authors of Lie to Me try to implement.
